Mark Helias is a renowned bassist and composer who has performed throughout the world for more than four decades. After beginning his international career in the Anthony Braxton Quartet, Helias has written music for two feature films as well as chamber pieces and works for large ensemble and big band. Fifteen albums of his music have been released since 1984, as well as a live trio album with Open Loose, his project with Tony Malaby and Tom Rainey. He continues performing and recording with BassDrumBone, a forty-three year collaboration with Gerry Hemingway and Ray Anderson. Mr. Helias performs solo bass concerts and can also be heard in the innovative bass duo, “The Marks Brothers”, with fellow bassist Mark Dresser.

Rolf Sturm has been a NYC area guitarist since 1984. His playing can be heard on over 60 recordings. He has either performed with or appeared on recordings that feature: Roswell Rudd, Billy Martin, Eddy Arnold, Anthony Braxton, Tony Trischka, David Johansen, Archie Shepp, Jorma Kaukonen, Tom Constanten, John Medeski, Catherine Russell, Heather Masse, and Jenna Mammina. Rolf has toured extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe, including performances at dozens of jazz, jam band/rock, folk, and blues festivals. He has also performed at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. and on
soundtracks for both film and television. Rolf’s solo acoustic guitar recording “Balance” received 4 stars in DownBeat Magazine.
