45th St Brass

Wednesday, June 24th at 8:00 pm PDT

The sound of 45th St Brass is hard to pin down in words because it is so diverse. The NOLA style brass band instrumentation makes groove the driving factor, but the essence of the band is more soul than jazz. Abe Beeson from KNKX describes it as “…a healthy dose of soul and funk with smartly crafted melodies soaring over the beat and a few well-placed solos and vocals,” and the kindest thing anyone has ever said about the band is when the A&R Factory wrote that the music “feels extremely sophisticated and avant-garde, yet very catchy and appealing.”

Their album features a variety of singers from across the Seattle music scene, but since then the powerful and “electrifying” (The Inlander’s words) Annie Jantzer has joined the band full time on vocals. Everyone looks forward to introducing Annie to those who have never had the pleasure of hearing her before, and would like to suggest everyone bring a spare set of pants. The horns are some of the best and most in demand section musicians in the area with an impressive collected resume, and the band has been honored to open for some of funk and soul’s best modern bands. We are also a collaborative horn section, so keep an eye out for us… everywhere.

This iteration features:
Peter Daniel – tenor sax
David Marriott, Jr – trombone
Nelson Bell – tuba
Matt Goodin – drums
